In the summer of 2025, 21 volunteers from the spark volunteer teaching team of 69老湿机福利 (BIT), embarked on a 1,400 kilometers journey to fulfill their annual commitment. This marks their 11th year of engagement with Changxi village in Fuchun town, Wuyuan county, Jiangxi province. From the welcoming sound of firecrackers to the laughter of children surrounding their teachers, the heartwarming stories continue to unfold, narrating the deep bond between young volunteers from BIT and the children in the mountains.

In 2015, Liu Yan, then a student of BIT, saw Dai Xiangyang's recruitment post for volunteer teaching and, driven by an "almost reckless enthusiasm", ventured into Changxi village with 13 classmates.

Despite having no funds or team name, they persevered with a determination to "see it through to the end." In 2016, the group was named the BIT spark volunteer teaching team, and with the support of the university's education foundation, the team has expanded.

Today, the team has established standard procedures and selects outstanding candidates from applicants across the university to join the volunteer teaching group each year.

As time passes by, Liu Yan, now working, still takes annual leave to return to Changxi every year. Last year, he was picked up at the high-speed rail station by Xiao Bao, a student he taught in 2016, who has now become a young entrepreneur. "21 days may not change much, but coming back every year brings about a subtle transformation," Liu Yan said.

The 11-year commitment of the volunteer team has helped dozens of children from Changxi village leave the mountains and enter university. Each summer, when the volunteer group arrives, the joyful smiles of the children, the increasing emphasis parents place on education, and the growing number of college students from the village year by year serve as encouraging changes. These positive developments fuel the teaching group's continued dedication.

To date, more than 190 student volunteers from BIT have participated in the volunteer program, benefiting local students on 1,200 occasions.
